Classmates of EHS 1961 -  Thank you so very much for the gift certificate given to me at the Friday night reunion gathering.  For those of you who  weren’t in attendance , it was given in appreciation  for the blog work that I have been doing for the past 5 years.  I am very, very  grateful, but, I would be extremely remiss to take all the credit for the blog for myself.  Sandy Weir Teller was – and still is – the technical expertise behind the blog…along with her son , Jon.  I also have two other “techies” – my son and my daughter who have tons of computer knowledge….as most of our children have.  Plus.. this truly is a blog for the class… and many of you have contributed pictures and comments .  PLEASE keep them coming!!   Thank you again     Ellen

A 50th Reunion Class Booklet is being prepared by Chuck and Connie Drudge Bower, Robin Podawiltz, and Marcia Butterbaugh.  This booklet is  basically a  ” What have you been doing for the last 50 years ? ” ( in your own words ) …with current pictures.    It will be available sometime in September 2011.   You may order a copy with your registration… to be picked up in Elkhart  ( $8.00 each )  or mailed to you ( $13.00 each).  It will also be available on the blog to read and/or print.  An e-mail form was sent to all with e-mails.  In case you didn’t receive the e-mail,  below is a form to fill out and return to Chuck and Connie Bower.

50th Reunion Class booklet

The reunion committee would like to extend an invitation to the members of  EHS Class of 1960 and also the EHS Class of 1962 to our casual get-to-gether on Friday night at the High Dive Pavillion.  This information was  not included in the article in the Elkhart Truth or in the class  invitation that we just sent out.  Please help get the word out to members of those classes.

     After responding to an editorial in The Elkhart Truth about forming an alumni choir , I received the following information.  I thought perhaps some of our class would be interested in participating.   More information can be found at the EHS Class of 1973 web site  Http://www.ehs73.com

Elkhart High School ALL Alumni Band-Orchestra-Choir!  (EHS Alunni BOC)

The formation of an Elkhart High School ALL Alumni Band/Orchestra/Choir is in progress.

The EHS Alumni BOC is in the process of forming a choir to perform at one of the opening ceremonies of the Lerner Performing Arts Center in Elkhart, Indiana (the old Elco theatre) in 2011.

 The choir should include graduates from Elkhart High School, Elkhart Central High School, and Elkhart Memorial High School.

 This choir is going to be a serious, dedicated group and its members need to be able to come to come to most practices.

We will be singing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and approximately three other selections.  The "Battle Hymn of the Republic" was performed at the final concert of the old Elkhart l High School building in 1972 before the building was torn down.

We are in the process of determining the level of interest for this project so please pass this information on to your fellow Elkhart high School alumni.
