1961 EHS Classmate Dennis Murphy of La Grange, Illinois, passed away June 12, 2013 . He is survived by his wife of 44 years , Deborah; 2 daughters, Kristen Murphy and Laura ( James ) Ferri and three grandchildren.
Dennis graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University , and an MBA from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL He spent most of his business career as the senior staff accountant for Commonwealth Edison, Chicago.
After retirement, Dennis did tutoring and substitute teaching at Avery Cooley School for the Gifted in Downers Grove, IL and at Lyons Township High School, La Grange. He also accompanied his wife and her Avery School seventh grade students on their annual trip to Washington D.C. where he was able to share his love and passion for American history.
Dennis was an avid golfer and served as Secretary on the Board of Directors of Ruth Lake Country Club, Hinsdale, IL…and he was also a board member of The Fairway Club, La Grange, IL.
