Donald Layne Padgett, 79, of Elkhart passed away Friday October 28, 2022 at Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa. He was born June 5th. 1943 in Elkhart, IN to David Madison and Fern Pauline (Barrick) Padgett Sr. He married Mollie Christine Deckard. She survives along with six children. Don A. (Laurie) Padgett, Leigh (Douglas) Lechlitner (both of Elkhart) Susan (George Smeltzer) of Morgantown, IN, Jason (Jennifer) Padgett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma , Joshua (Jennifer H,) Padgett and Nathan (Holly) Padgett, both of Elkhart, 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also surving are five siblings, David (Mary) Padgett, of Elkhart, . (Mary Padgett Jr. of Edwardsburg, Michigan and twin brother Ronald (Joyce) of Goshen, IN, and Darlene Dornbrook of Millersburg, IN, Jeanne Lape of Nappanee , Indiana and Bonnie ( Fred) Nofen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carol Rowe and Sharon Leist.
